With a good idea, a feeling for space and shape and high-quality materials, a garden dream was created in Rheine, Westphalia. The couple started their project in the middle of the coronavirus peak phase. They commissioned a garden architect to redesign the patio and garden. After a good ten weeks of construction, the new outdoor realm was completed. The property now looks spacious and friendly. Light-coloured ceramic tiles and natural stone make everything appear a little "sunnier". This makes you want to spend a lot of time in the inviting patio area.

When you enter the garden, you immediately see and feel that the residents have a keen sense of aesthetics. Colours, shapes, high-quality materials and beautiful furniture come together to create a harmonious picture. The customised and interestingly offset glass construction that covers the terrace is a perfect match. Effective solar protection was important to the couple in order to be able to enjoy the outdoor space in summer, even when the sun is shining brightly. This was to create an airy feeling of space.

This effect quickly clears the mind. "I really enjoy spending my time here. I develop ideas and concepts for customers and plan projects," says Schwarz. Thanks to the lights integrated into the awning and an infrared heater, this is now possible until late in the evening. "Working in such a decelerating environment is particularly enjoyable. And it's somehow easier to do," Ernst Schwarz is convinced. Afterwards, you can end the evening relaxing in the cosy dimmed light.
Enjoying Italian joie de vivre at home
But first and foremost, the couple say, they enjoy a little holiday on their own terrace every day. It was worth it to create this wonderful outdoor space. Whether it's over breakfast or a glass of wine, they both feel reminded of their favourite holiday destination, Rome: "Here in the middle of Westphalia, we now live a little taste of the dolce vita. And we make the most of it as often as we can," Heike Boy and Ernst Schwarz agree.

The markilux 879 underglass awning
The couple opted for the underglass awning 879. The glass canopy needed sun and anti-glare protection, as the heat build-up is enormous without an awning. A glass canopy awning is essential so that the terrace can also be used in midsummer. An underglass awning was the ideal solution to keep out the low sun. The fixture under the roof makes it possible to integrate shadeplus. The vertically lowering awning in the front profile can be used as a supplement to protect against low sun if required. This means you are not dazzled by the sun's rays even when the sun goes down. Another positive feature is that the shadeplus can keep the heat of the day under the glass roof on cool summer evenings.
