Shading solution
for the staff terrace

The outdoor area of the Lufthansa headquarters was to be provided with sun protection for the staff terrace. The staff terrace is a place for relaxation and social interaction. Colleagues from different departments meet here to get some fresh air, chat and recharge their batteries. A shade was needed to ensure that the area remains pleasant even on sunny days despite the intense sunlight and that the well-being of the employees is not impaired. The management therefore decided to invest in a high-quality sunshade from markilux to provide the best possible protection for the employees.

Free-standing solution without foundation

Due to the window frontage, it was not possible to attach the awning to the façade, so a free-standing solution was required. In order to make the best possible use of the space, the markilux syncra awning stand system was chosen. Folding-arm awnings can be attached to both sides for large-area protection. Thanks to the stabilization boxes, no foundations are required. This creates maximum flexibility without any structural changes.

Optimal use of the area in any weather

There is also flexibility with regard to the use of the sun protection. If desired or required, the awnings can be extended. When the sun is shining, they offer protection from aggressive sun rays and serve as glare protection. In addition, temperatures remain more pleasant in the shade than in the blazing sun. But even if the weather changes to light wind or rain, the awning system ensures that the outdoor area remains usable. This gives employees the opportunity to spend their break and lunch outside on the terrace, regardless of the weather.

Cozy ambience

To create an inviting ambience on the terrace, the look of the awning and the fabric pattern of the awning cover were important decision criteria. The light-colored fabric creates a radiant and friendly shaded area. Even when the sun's rays are intercepted, the sun ensures that the fabric cover shines. By attaching the awnings on both sides, the sun protection becomes like a roof, resulting in a cozy atmosphere.
