Restaurant in "Zell am See" received sun and rain protection from markilux

Last year, the family-run hotel and restaurant Pfefferbauer in Pinzgau, Austria, had its approximately 60 square metre terrace covered with a modern awning system by German manufacturer markilux. Since then it has not only been providing guests with effective weather protection but the system also fits in well with the traditional wooden architecture of the building.

The Pfefferbauer restaurant is idyllically situated above Lake Zell in the Salzburg region. The outdoor terrace offers an impressive view of the lake and the surrounding Hohe Tauern mountains. The restaurateurs wanted their guests to be able to enjoy this beautiful Alpine panorama for as long as possible throughout the year, which is why they decided to have a top-quality, discreet awning system from markilux installed on their terrace.

Need for protection from the rain and sun

“The owners came across our brand through some of our reference projects and we were able to convince them of the quality of our products,” explains Jan Kattenbeck, head of “markilux project”. The customer stressed the need for effective protection from both the sun and the rain. The system was to cover an area of around 60 square metres and match the colour of the building’s traditional timber construction. In addition, the idea was for it to be possible to lower one side of one particular awning due to its minimal inclination to ensure rain could drain away easily.

Special installation situation

A combination of two pergola systems and the manufacturer’s folding-arm awning “markilux 1300” was the perfect choice to shade the outdoor area as required by the customer. One system had to be mounted on the roof and the other fitted to a wall. The projections of the systems also differed. Both required a careful approach during planning and installation of the awnings, especially as the process was completed in two stages. “Our local specialist partners are trained to deal with all kinds of installation situations in a professional manner, as it has always been the company’s aim to meet all customer requirements to the full,” explains Jan Kattenbeck.
