4-star hotel on Lake Attersee has opted for an awning system from markilux

The “Boutiquehotel Aichinger” and restaurant are located in the centre of Nussdorf, a small village on Lake Attersee in Upper Austria. It is one of the oldest establishments in the region, with its history spanning over 200 years, and its focus has always been on enjoyment. The aim is that guests should always feel at home. Bearing this in mind, the family business decided to give the outdoor eating area a makeover with awnings from markilux.

You will find a good 80 seats on the inviting outdoor terrace of the “Boutiquehotel Aichinger” in the Austrian town of Nussdorf on Lake Attersee. In 2023, it was enhanced with generous solar and wet weather protection made by markilux.

Rustic chestnut trees as part of the concept

Lines of chestnut trees are to be found between the tables, almost like a guard of honour. As part of the hotel’s history, they were to be given a permanent place in the awning system concept. Jan Kattenbeck, Head of the “markilux project” team, which plans and visualises properties for business customers of cooperating specialist partners, was enthusiastic about the idea. “The idea was to keep as many trees as possible. And we succeeded in doing that. Even though it made planning all the more complicated,” explains the awning expert. Three systems were combined to provide shade for the more than 100 square metre area: the models “pergola stretch”, “syncra” and “pergola classic”. This meant that the individual areas could be planned perfectly, ensuring sufficient light for the trees. In addition to high-quality wet weather protection, the family business was interested in being able to make integrated infrared heaters available to guests in cooler temperatures.

Solar protection fits in well with the high-class hotel image

“For customers, it was important they would still be able to enjoy a pleasant atmosphere. After all, the ‘common thread’ running through this traditional establishment is the history of enjoyment, in which guests should feel completely at ease,” Mr Kattenbeck explains. An LED system for cosy light in the evening was therefore also integrated into the awning system. This customised concept has given the outdoor terrace even more charm. “The hotel and restaurant owners were already convinced of our products and their convenience when they saw the visualisations. And they are absolutely delighted with the result. Because it fits in perfectly with the image of their award-winning gastronomy,” says a satisfied Jan Kattenbeck. 2,616 characters

Since last year, a sophisticated awning system from markilux has been protecting the outdoor terrace of the “Boutiquehotel Aichinger” on Lake Attersee from the sun and light rain. The gnarled chestnut trees between the rows of tables are particularly attractive. They were cleverly incorporated into the concept of the solar protection system which combines the use of three different awning models.
