Having markilux awnings installed
– all types of installation at a glance

Face fixture, top fixture, roof fixture – these are just some of the options for installing markilux awnings. The type of installation possible in each case not only depends on the architectural conditions of your patio or balcony, but also on the selected awning model.

Furthermore, when you have an awning installed professionally by your local markilux specialist partner, they will also take the relevant climatic conditions into account: in regions known to be windy, they will only install an awning model with the corresponding wind stability.

You are bound to find an awning to suit every installation situation from the large markilux range. Feel free to contact your local specialist partner directly to find out how to have your new markilux awning fitted. When you buy your awning, you can also arrange to have it installed.

Installing folding-arm awnings

Find markise

The markilux folding-arm awnings are characterised by a high degree of flexibility when it comes to fixture. Many models can be installed on the face, rafters or top fixture.

Fastening awnings with face fixtures
Face fixtures are the most common way of attaching folding-arm awnings. Fixture materials are inserted into the substrate and the awning is firmly screwed in place. If the awning is to be attached to an insulated façade (thermal insulation system), special fixture materials are used to prevent the formation of thermal bridges. The face fixture is available for all markilux folding-arm awnings.

Awnings with roof and top fixture
If it is not possible or practical to attach the patio or balcony awning to a face, there is also the option of attaching an awning to the ceiling or roof. Special brackets are attached directly to the top. Attachment to rafters is also possible for many models, provided they are load-bearing.

Awning installation in a reveal
For a space-limited installation situation, a reveal fixture is an option for some balcony and patio awnings. In this case, the awning is recessed into existing or newly created reveals and thus blends in visually with its surroundings when retracted.

Attaching free-standing awning systems - the fixture of pergola awnings

markilux also offers you various mounting options for your pergola awning and free-standing awning system. Two fixture types are possible here, depending on the awning model and surface: fixing in the foundation ("fix") or with ballast boxes ("flex").

Fixing awning systems in a foundation
The use of concrete foundations for stable and safe fastening is particularly suitable for free-standing awnings without a connection to a face.

Awning installation with ballast boxes and markilux mobilfix
If the posts of an awning system cannot be fixed to a foundation, it is also possible to use ballast boxes for some models. These anchor the free-standing awning firmly to the ground. To ensure a solid base, the metal boxes are filled with gravel sand.

The "markilux mobilfix" fixing option offers another possibility for awning installation. Here, the supporting columns of the markilux 790 side screen are permanently mounted on a mobile granite plate. This fixture type offers a high degree of flexibility and can also be used on surfaces such as wooden decking.

Awning systems and pergola awnings with wall connection
Some of the free-standing awning systems from markilux can also be fixed to the face in addition to being fixed to the floor. The combination of face fixture and attachment to the ground results in extremely stable sun and all-weather protection.

Easy-Go lever - optional awning equipment
The freestanding markilux planet awning parasol is also available in a flex version. The so-called Easy-Go lever enables the entire sunshade to be rotated by 335 degrees. You can use this lever to adjust the shade cast by your awning system to suit the conditions at any time.

The special extra: post shape and height-adjustable posts
Some of the markilux pergola awnings and awning systems are available with either round or square posts. This design detail allows you to customise your awning completely according to your wishes.

To ensure a safe rain run-off or to react to a change in the position of the sun, the markilux pergola awnings (pergola and pergola compact - but not pergola stretch) can also be fitted with telescopic posts. These can be operated either by crank or hard-wired motor.

Fastening options for glass canopies and conservatory awnings

With markilux above-glass and underglass awnings for glass canopies and conservatories, the awning fabric is kept taut with two different types of fastening.

Guide tracks as awning fastening
Both the markilux above glass awnings for conservatories and the markilux underglass awnings for glass canopies run in guide tracks and can be fastened to these. A tensioning system with gas pistons ensures optimum cover tension.

Awning equipment for less sagging: "tracfix"
The tracfix system is one of many markilux refinements: Here, the lateral fabric guide is realised without a gap between the awning fabric and the guide rail. This ensures that the fabric cover is tensioned from all sides and has less sag.
