The Brokenwood winery is located in the Hunter Valley in New South Wales, Australia. In October 2021, the estate's outdoor terrace received an awning system from markilux. The newly designed outdoor area can now be used for events and wine tastings in a variety of weather conditions.

Over the past 50 years, Brokenwood, a good 165 kilometers northwest of Sydney, has developed into one of Australia's best-known wineries. Today, wine tours and tastings are held here regularly. However, the estate's large outdoor terrace has not yet been used to its full potential. That was about to change. The management of the winery therefore decided to have the terrace covered with a large markilux awning system.

Optimum use of the outdoor area thanks to a combination of different awning models with maximum flexibility

The Australian team : project covered an area of almost 180 square meters. The system consists of three markilux markant units, with four additional folding-arm awnings of the markilux 970 model fitted to the sides and front. By combining the different models and awning types, the sun shading solution offers maximum flexibility. Depending on the position of the sun, the entire area or only parts of it can be shaded.

Flexibility even in the rain

The sunshade also serves as weather protection. Because even in Australia it rains from time to time. This gives you maximum flexibility. If the sun is pleasant, the weather protection systems are retracted. If the weather changes to heat or rain, the awning systems can be extended and guests can continue to sit outside in comfort.

Light and warmth for cozy outdoor dining after dark

Additional equipment contributes to the flexible use of the weather protection systems. Dimmable LED lighting creates the desired atmosphere on the restaurant terrace. Paired with infrared heaters, a stay at the Brokenwood winery becomes a cozy affair. In future, the terrace will be used for various events, regardless of the temperature or time of day.

In addition to the functional requirements of the awning system, the modern design was a decisive factor in the choice of product.
