How are the markilux awning frames painted?
The awning frame and the other visible parts of markilux awnings are usually powder-coated. This coating fulfils the international quality guidelines according to GSB (Gütegemeinschaft von Bauteilen) and has been tried and tested in the temperate climate of Central Europe.
The standard equipment of all markilux awnings - with the exception of markilux 1300 and markilux 900 - includes powder coating in the following awning colours: traffic white RAL 9016, white metallic RAL 9006, grey brown similar to RAL 8019, off-white textured finish 5233, stone grey metallic 5215, anthracite metallic 5204, havana brown textured finish 5229. Your markilux specialist dealer will have the corresponding original markilux awning frame colour cards ready for you, will be happy to explain the special features of a RAL coating in your personal desired colour and looks forward to your visit.
When is increased corrosion protection for awnings recommended?
If the awning frame is subject to higher demands and in locations with high emissions, such as chemical plants, strong industrial fumes and near the coast with increased salt and moisture content in the air, it is recommended to use a suitable chemical pre-treatment to reduce the risk of so-called hairline corrosion of the frame colour.
What is the difference to awning colours in "normal" powder coating?
Aluminium components of the awning frame are pretreated before the actual powder coating. According to the current state of the art, this pre-treatment process represents a significant improvement against hairline corrosion of the frame colour.
In summary, this process is described in the RAL-RG 631 and RAL-GZ 663 quality and test regulations for piece coating of aluminium and steel components and in the Qualicoat regulations.
On request, markilux awnings with this coating with pre-anodisation are available as custom-made products in accordance with RAL RG 631 and GZ 663.
General information on the care of coated awning parts: At locations with high emission values or climatically aggressive factors, the surface must be carefully cleaned of the "catalysers" of filiform corrosion formation (so-called starter salts, especially chlorides) at short intervals, depending on the degree.
Which frame colours for awnings are the most popular?
Timeless classics such as anthracite metallic, traffic white and off-white textured 5233 have enjoyed great popularity for years. They match many architectural styles and look elegant and discreet.
Recently, modern colours such as white metallic aluminium, stone grey metallic and grey brown have also been gaining popularity. They give the awning a sophisticated touch and add a stylish accent.
Should the frame colour match the house facade or form a contrast?
Both options are possible and have their own appeal. A harmonious colour combination in which the frame colour matches the façade looks calm and elegant. A deliberate contrast can emphasise the awning and make it an eye-catcher. It is important that the colours still harmonise well with each other.
Which frame colour for awnings is suitable for a modern look?
Clear, minimalist colours such as anthracite metallic, traffic white or stone grey metallic are recommended for a modern look. Dark brown tones or a subtle black can also emphasise a modern aesthetic. Avoid playful patterns or too many different colours to maintain a clean and contemporary look.
