markilux. A success story.

On a beautiful day in June 1972 , the entrepreneur and visionary Carl-Hinderich Schmitz laid the foundation stone for a remarkable success story in Emsdetten, northwest Germany. Under the brand name markilux - back then as a subsidiary of Schmitz-Werke - the new company designed and produced made-to-measure awnings for patios, balconies, windows and conservatories.

After almost five decades and over 1.5 million awnings sold, markilux has become the leading manufacturer of innovative designer awnings in Germany.

The spirit of those early days can still be felt today. Creativity, know-how, the fascination for the technical challenge, the discipline and the will to continue moving forward and to create something new make markilux a pioneer in the industry.
